Why We Exist
The web hosting space is full of noise
Most "review" sites are affiliate-driven. Top rankings are bought, not earned. A beginner searching for a reliable host has no neutral ground to stand on — every recommendation comes with a commission attached.
Real people should be heard
A developer who migrated three servers, a freelancer who dealt with a support nightmare, a startup that tested five VPS providers in six months — their experience is worth more than any marketing brochure. We exist to give that experience a permanent, searchable home.
Community over content
Good infrastructure decisions are rarely made in isolation. We built a forum alongside the directory so that questions, debates, and hard-won lessons live next to the providers they're about. Knowledge compounds when it stays together.
How We Work
Provider listings are reviewed before going live
Anyone can submit a provider, but every submission is manually reviewed by our team. We verify that the company is real, the information is accurate, and the listing meets our quality bar before it appears in the directory.
Reviews are moderated, not filtered
We approve reviews that are genuine and on-topic. We reject spam, personal attacks, and fake positives. A 2-star review from a real customer has exactly as much right to be here as a 5-star one — we do not remove negative reviews on provider request.
Providers can respond, not rewrite
Verified company representatives can reply to reviews and manage their profile page. They can share deals and campaigns. They cannot edit or hide customer feedback. Transparency is the only currency that matters here.
Where We Stand
No parent company, VC funding, or provider ownership influencing what we publish.
If we ever introduce paid features for providers, we will label them clearly and they will not affect ratings.
Every product decision is weighed against one question: does this make the community more useful?
We are builders who have spent years picking hosting providers for our own projects — and getting it wrong more than once. HostingArtisan is the resource we wish had existed. We are early, opinionated, and open to being challenged. If something is wrong or could be better, tell us.
